Jelly Baby by Jean Ure

When their aunt Cass moves out and new step mum in, everything changes for these two sisters.

Flora and Emily begin to feel unhappy and uncomfortable with to situation as pokes about their weight, diet, clothes, cleaning of the house routine and their beloved cat get too much.

Em runs away back to her aunt Cass who now lives in Brighton were she runs her business, leaving Flora distraught and resulting in her and their dad coming clean about the step mum situation.

This book is a quick read but quite a necessary one, many children grow up in homes where they're not listened to and so suffer. In this book, their father may not listen at first but proves persistence pays off as he puts his family first over any love attempts and shows what parenting should be like when it restsbon one set of shoulders, he wanted the best and kept it that way eventually.
