A Change Is Gonna Come by Mary Bello

My favourites from this book were Aisha Busby, Tanya Byrne, Yasmin Rahman and Ayisha Maliks stories but overall the stories celebrate everything from difference in life situation, sexual orientation, friendship, family, religion and more. These short stories pack a punch and really show how difference can be great and helps us to appreciate each other too.

Keys To The City by Lisa Schroeder

In this book, from Nora's best friend Libby's point of view, we see how she discovers her talent and life joy after feeling down and frustrated at the unknown she faced for her school project after the other students seemed to all know theirs.

With her parents moving to own a failing inn, arguing all the time, new friends Tyler and Vivian and a welcome but sometimes sad distraction as she realises they have something precious she'd love but can't ever have, her own dog.

We see Libby have to adapt to a lot of change and uncertainty but discovering friends she didn't have before helps her to forget her worries and relax and have fun as she sets about discovering her true talent. It was a fun and quick read for those who love animals especially!

Fierce Fragile Hearts by Sara Barnard

In this sequel following Suze and her tumultuous life, Caddy and Rosie head off to university leaving her behind. As she struggles with adapting to not only living alone but feeling lonely away from her best friends, Caddy's boyfriend Kel introduces her to Matt a musician from London he knows who gigs around their area at times.

She also makes a friend in Dilys who lives in a flat below hers with her dog.

Then just as her friends, relationship with Matt and even a new goal career for the future look to happen possibly, her abusive father reappears just as life starts to get going good again throwing everything up in the air...

I really enjoyed this sequel more than the first book, raising awareness of abuse, stroke and the signs as well as effects of one, this book hits all the health points for mental and physical head on and shows how they can seriously effect our lives long term and that there's never a quick or simple solution instead showing how complex an issue it can be. The dramas are all real life, heart breaking and raw emotional issues all hitting at one time colliding. Realistic and dramatic another great read by Sara!

Many thanks to the publishers for allowing me to review this book for them!

Diary Of A Parent Trainer by Jenny Smith

As her mum gets a new boyfriend after their father's death, Katie and her older sister and younger brother set to jeopardize the relationship as Stuart is a tragedy in dodgy clothes, cars and hobbies. As he changes their mum, the three are horrified and Katie is even more infuriated when her best mates also go boy crazy too especially as one of them starts dating the boy Katie likes.

Let's not forget of course that their home is in Bridletown where all their family live too.

There's plenty of fun to be had from this diary entry style book as it consists of tips to control your human better and how to handle their moods and anything they may do, really. As it is it's actually quite realistic and funny due to that fact and the points being proved true throughout! All about the joys and woes of rebuilding a family in a different way to before and accepting new people.
