Donut Dreams Book 2 So Jelly by Coco Simon

Kelsey in this book is dealing with lots of change from new friends to sharing her family with her cousin who she's jealous of getting attention from her mum.

Kelsey also has to adapt to new hobbies as she takes part in sport and student council too can she cope with everything changing at once?

It was a good book though I didn't enjoy Kelsey's story as much as the previous one it was still a great read and good to see another perspective from the family this series focusses on. I was glad to see how the outcome came to be and liked the way it went.

Donut Dreams Book 1 Hole In The Middle by Coco Simon

Lindsay works the counter selling donuts in her family's restaurant alongside her cousin Kelsey.

She dreams of getting through middle school with enough money saved to leave the town where everyone knows her as the girl whose mum died and start fresh elsewhere.

When her friend Casey comes back from camp and the girls are having to pick dresses for an upcoming dance, Lindsay learns that things may be about to change once again and isn't best pleased.

All about living in the moment and learning to live on despite the past, this was a great start to a new series based around a family. The concept is a fresh idea from Coco and the donuts are a delectable idea to bring into her new series and will have us all hooked on wanting to read more.

Owl's Outstanding Doughnuts by Robin Yardi

In this book we meet Mattie who lives with her aunt Molly after her mother passed away. In the night she keeps seeing a truck come and dump waste material on their shop site and an odd owl called Alfred who also keeps appearing and noticing the waste dumped too it seems and also is partial to a doughnut!

As she tells her friends Beatrice and Sasha she tries to get them to believe her and see it themselves too.

Can the girls work together to help save the doughnut business before they get shut down?

These girls are cunning and brave standing up for the shop they love and believe in I loved how the owl Alfred became a friend to them and the concept was unique and unlike a book I've read before. I also felt happy that Alfred was supposed to like the doughnuts too it added a cute twist in the tale, what real owl would love doughnuts?!

Donut Days by Lara Zielin

Emma's parents are both pastors who have raised her and her seven year old little sister Lizzie as devout Christians her ex best friend Nat was supposed to go off to Crispy Dream Donut camp with her not become best mates with Molly whose dad causes trouble for her parents church as he believes men rule and have more power over women.

She broke Jakes heart but asks him to meet up with her after she finds out her parents will hold back her college fund unless she goes to a Christian college else she has to fund it someway.

Emma meets Bear and Anita at the camp and becomes friends with them meanwhile later Jake says he loves her throwing her off after what happened between them previously. We do learn why Nat isn't friends with Emma currently and we learn that Carson caused the fall out.

It is very religion/Christianity heavy and wasn't my normal choice of book but if you are into religious fiction with a minor love theme then you should enjoy it.

Understand that she knows the difference between books and reality but by god, she’s going to try to make her life a little like her favorite book. It will never be your fault if she does.

She has to give it a shot somehow.

Lie to her. If she understands syntax, she will understand your need to lie. Behind words are other things: motivation, value, nuance, dialogue. It will not be the end of the world.

Fail her. Because a girl who reads knows that failure always leads up to the climax. Because girls who read understand that all things must come to end, but that you can always write a sequel. That you can begin again and again and still be the hero. That life is meant to have a villain or two.

Why be frightened of everything that you are not? Girls who read understand that people, like characters, develop. Except in the Twilight series.

If you find a girl who reads, keep her close. When you find her up at 2 AM clutching a book to her chest and weeping, make her a cup of tea and hold her. You may lose her for a couple of hours but she will always come back to you. She’ll talk as if the characters in the book are real, because for a while, they always are.

You will propose on a hot air balloon. Or during a rock concert. Or very casually next time she’s sick. Over Skype.

You will smile so hard you will wonder why your heart hasn’t burst and bled out all over your chest yet. You will write the story of your lives, have kids with strange names and even stranger tastes. She will introduce your children to the Cat in the Hat and Aslan, maybe in the same day. You will walk the winters of your old age together and she will recite Keats under her breath while you shake the snow off your boots.

Date a girl who reads because you deserve it. You deserve a girl who can give you the most colorful life imaginable. If you can only give her monotony, and stale hours and half-baked proposals, then you’re better off alone. If you want the world and the worlds beyond it, date a girl who reads.
