Morgan isn't a normal thirteen year old, she can cast spells as taught how to by her mum and Dora her mum's best friend who's like a sister to her and home schooled Morgan until now when she can finally go off to school.
But being able to cast spells with the click of her fingers soon causes chaos for Morgan as she catches the attention of Owen, bully Felix who thinks she's a freak and Iris whom she's put in a group with to dance for the talent show.
Feeling like a social outcast a few spells should help to change things instead, her head teacher can't stop dancing, Felix is chased by hoards of bats and Morgan accidentally also causes dragons to appear too!
Just what will she do next and can she stay friends with Owen when they discover what each other is?
Never one to read teen fantasy fiction I actually really enjoyed this book as I have all of Katy's previous books and found myself fully invested in the drama of witch life and general teen life issues. I enjoyed the witches vs warlocks aspect too and the secrets in the book that need to be kept mean the next book will surely have tons more drama with that cliff hanger of an ending!

Spectacular Superstar Dork Diaries Book 14 by Rachel Renee Russell
Nikki and her friends and band are back and preparing to go on your with one of their favourite bands the Bad Boyz however first she has to ensure they get on the tour after her sister messes up the crucial call, make sure her frenemy MacKenzie can't sabotage them... again!
But will things go smoothly when MacKenzie appears at a crucial time ahead of the tour and will she cause mayhem for the band?
Every teen girl has a group they're a fan of so I'm sure this book will be fun and fabulous reading to most teens as a little drama occurs, granted not so much as in previous books the storyline of going on your with a favourite band provides enough excitement along the way to satisfy our reading and continuing Nikki's story.
I just can't wait for more from Nikki's diaries about her life!

Going Off Script by Jen Wilde
Bex is new to LA as she looks into pursuing her dream of being a TV scriptwriter and ultimately have her own TV show.
As she moves in with her cousin Parker a gay make-up artist and her idol growing up, she tries to figure out how to tell him she's gay too and no, not to just copy him.
At the TV studio where her favourite werewolf drama is filmed however she soon learns behind the scenes things are less than perfect but she does have the executive producer Jane on her side while Malcolm a fellow scriptwriter takes an instant dislike to her.
From parties with the famous and stars of Silver Falls and handing her own version of a script for an episode to her boss whom rips it off a his own!
As she falls for Shrupya an actress playing the role she wrote in her script to make a gay couple happen in the show they fall into a natural relationship which could crumble after Malcolm changes the script after a homophobic rant by Archer the straight white male lead in the show.
The book featured heavily on the LGBTQ community and also having YouTube actresses being included too. I liked the cast being a mix of cultures and identifying as various types of people, shows it's a great modern young adult book and up to date with the times! I also picked up on The Brightsiders being talked about, another great book by Jen and the sneaky hints didn't go unnoticed. I really enjoyed the way the plot went and loved the story even though after reading about the script she wrote I kinda guessed correctly the way it would play out there was still great drama and so didn't expect the love interests either which was an obvious great addition. A perfect teen read if you love movie's, TV or LGBTQ relationship dynamics.
Many thanks to the publishers for allowing me to review this book for them!

The Next Best Junior Chef by Charise Mericle Harper
The new Next Best Junior Chef is a contest judged by three renowned chef's. The competition allows one junior chef the chance to win a food truck and the opportunity to film in Italy.
Each contestant, two boys and two girls are each around 9-11 years old and their histories influenced by their family and holiday's inspire a wide range of dishes from around the world alike in our real cooking TV shows.
They are all excited as they get their own work station and personalized apron, the chance to win kitchen gadget prizes throughout the shows and a week recording schedule which tough daunting, they face with smiles and passion for cooking!
The four children, Rae, Caroline, Tate and Oliver, each design their unique food truck ideas way before the winner is announced and we see how unique each child really is!
They're challenged all week with a set of camera cards to teach them to be natural and not stare into the camera's to make it candid.
The girls bond, while the boys or at least Oliver's perfectionism and high achieving desires makes them not as close. Steve the producer only cares about rating's though, whereas chef Nancy wants the children to be having fun like they should be doing.
They take a trip to a fairground for a challenge after they make some rather interesting and intriguing flavoured ice creams and the fairground challenge is a higher end unique twist on a classic style of serving food.
The elimination challenge leaves three of the children to be facing off in the final which will be in the next book, so we don't actually find a winner of the series in the book so it definitely doesn't work as a stand alone unless you want a cliffhanger, buy the next book to find out what happens next!
I really liked the fact that we got small breaks in story text to hear a thought or opinion made by a contestant as it gives us more feel for them, their personality, cheeky, friendly etc. There are lots of food facts and knife safety part so children learn proper kitchen tips and terms. Overall it was a really fun book and I'm sure children will enjoy it especially if they're into cooking or crafts.

Jelly by Jo Cotterill
Jelly is the school class clown as we discover her insecurity at being the bigger girl at school. She suffers from some bullying comments made towards her many times about her weight building her insecurity as she lets out her anger against people by writing some rather emotional short poetry as a hobby.
She also has to battle with her mothers bad taste in boyfriends as they use her and treat her badly until by chance her mum finally meets a decent guy whom might just also make Jelly happy too.
As Jelly deals with puberty and entering the school talents show with her rather brilliant impersonation act, we see a brave girl emerge as she turns the cruel words said to her into a work of art and owns the stage for her performance.
The book cleverly shows how bullying can effect someone but also how it can in turn inspire them as well. It also shows how a plus size teen is a great choice of main character as Jelly is a normal teenager dealing with an array of issues like any teen of any size a first for teen fiction and I commend Jo for this!

Between The Lies by Cathy MacPhail
Abbie is the outsider at school, relatively new to the school.
When Judith or Jude disappears suddenly and doesn't return home, her parents worry and the school is buzzing with talk of what could've happened to her. Andrea, Tracey and Belinda, her so called best friends keeps posting on social media messages they hope Judith will see.
Then comes a huge shock development, Abbie gets a text, from Jude herself saying she wants to come home.
Nobody understands why she contacted Abbie the outcast student she hasn't ever talked to let alone swap numbers with.
But that's not it, when a shocking twist revelation comes out everyone turns their respect for Abbie and her campaigning to find Jude to hatred at what she's accused of, keeping Jude away deliberately.
Then texts from an Unknown number start sending Abbie wild with worry and paranoia, no one will help her and no one will believe she's in danger.
Don't trust your so called friends, they just might hold the answers in this case...
Cathy can't half write amazing mysteries and thrillers they are always super and never fail to deliver. I was hooked on this book and finished it in two hours it was that gripping. There's plenty of twists to keep you guessing and packed full of action its unput down able!

Maybe Not by Colleen Hoover
In this book set around the time before and during Sydney's arrival in their life and from Warren's perspective. Warren has just met Bridgette his fellow roommate who is very standoffish and infuriating for him to be around as he not only finds her incredibly hot, they're battling each other in a brutal prank war which results in their bad attitudes between themselves.
Bridgette is a strong female and has life experience that made her that way and she doesn't give in easy to Warren's pursuit of her yet pretty soon their attraction becomes heated and sexual and they can't turn away from it no more, the heart wants what it wants after all.
I really enjoyed knowing more about the two characters that were a big part of Maybe Someday and from Warren's perspective seeing he wasn't just playing with Bridgette after all but really deeply cared for her.

Jessica Darling's It List 2 by Megan McCafferty
Learning her Grandma is staying over for eighteen days, Jessica is excited to be able to bake sweet treats with her grandma and get her advice on her friend situations.
While Bridget keeps taking Jessica's homemade sweets and classifying them as her own to impress Burke, Jessica is expected to always be there all the time Bridget and her many potential break ups with Burke may occur.
Jess then gets her own spell of boy trouble between her and Scotty as Dori thinks they like each other. Jess later learns that actually Scotty has feelings and they're not for the girl he's dating after all.
Manda and Sara then seemingly peer pressure Jessica into holding a sleepover for them, Hope and Bridget though Dori and some of the guys end up attending too but it of course doesn't go to plan, ending in near death for one of them, leaving the sleepover early for others and Jess's grandma calling the police on the kids who snuck off!
Then Aleck, really known as Marcus and Jess share a few laughs again and Marcus still acts really sweet around Jess despite the sleepover events.
Hope then being her new best friend really, confides in Jess about her period coming and that being why she acted oddly at Jess's sleepover. Jess feels happy knowing she's a trusted friend and realises being a slow developer body wise may not be a bad thing after all.
Her sister Bethany tells Jessica she has a chance at readmission to college and not all hope may be lost for her after all!
Another fun read which may have the attitude of high schoolers but will make you laugh all the same with a great fast paced storyline.
