Ten Step Drawing Flowers by Mary Woodin

In this book we discover tips and tricks to drawing flowers which may seem hard, but are broken down into small manageable parts to deal with slowly.

Building up our flowers of choice to draw, we can develop and adapt out skills with the help of the pictures diagrams and examples provided which allow a good visual aid to us beginning to try and perfect out flower drawing skills.

It was handy and a good guide to get me drawing flowers way better than I have ever done so! I appreciate the guide drawings and it was laid out beautifully and easy to follow.

Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo

In this book, we meet Camino and Yahaira.

Camino grew up in Dominican Republic where poverty is rife and most teens end up pregnant early like her friend and lives with Tià her auntie who's a healer. She's also in trouble being pestered by a certain man...

Yahaira is a chess player who made her dad proud winning tournament's and is a proud lesbian with her supportive girlfriend Dre always by her side.

When a man dies, to each of them he's their father, they come to terms with the huge change in their separate lives as everything alters.

Then they discover each other, the biggest shock of all through their father's papers and will and connect online as their father's body gets flown back to Dominican Republic for burial.

This was a great story from the start each girl has a strong character from feisty to bold and each their father's daughter who adored their time with him. I liked how they connected online and accept each other as well as helping too especially when a dangerous situation arose too for Camino. An original idea sparked from a real event the tragedy brings the girls together and it was handled very well. Another fabulous verse book from Elizabeth.

Demi works in a café with her friend and landlady Sheila only for a scene to happen and her to be made homeless along with her beloved dog, Mitch, thanks to Mawgan Cade a local business woman who's formidable.

After Cal returns from the middle East with secrets and tales of hardship out there, he discovers his love Isla has moved on and become engaged to all people, his now ex best friend.

With jealousy, secrets and offers of new work hovering around this cast of characters in this community, just what will change for the better or worse...

I liked that there was Isla made to be alike A princess in contrast to Demi being like a pauper on the street. Mawgan and her family not realising her sister is gay and also had a girlfriend in Robyn shows just how blind she was to her family and how cold to them too being a businesswomen first and foremost! The characters worked well together and the drama flowed easily each scene and chapter had so much detail I love Phillipa's writing!

The Big Little Festival Rabbits Leap Book 2 by Kellie Hailes

Christian is an event manager who comes in paid for by Jody to help create the best festival to raise enough money to get their local pool repaired.

Jody grew up in Rabbits Leap after the death of her mum and emotional loss of her dad her brother Tony helped her when she became pregnant with her two boys who are her priority in life. She has a secret about the pool that makes her want to get it fixed but without people knowing why..

Even though she swore off men, Jody and Christian have an instant attraction and great chemistry together both unable to hide nor deny their feelings.

Christian however hides his own secret about why he left London's event planning world and it could threaten to tear the tender couple apart.

A great little chick lit read I was pulled in by the title sounding so fun and then realising the village of the setting was called Rabbits Leap and I love rabbits! I enjoyed the way the pair couldn't fight the their chemistry and that there was the children and work to factor in, true sacrifice was made from Christian especially uprooting and moving to his new life.

The Shelter Puppy by Holly Webb

Caitlin and her brother Aidan go to see a shelter full of cats and dogs in this book as Caitlin has to do a school project for a charity which she chooses the animal shelter.

It's there she meets Winston a whippet she falls in love with only when a school friend looks set to adopt him even her birthday can't cheer her up it seems...

A great story once again about saving animals and loving/caring for them too. Caitlin is a relatable character who cares so much in her actions inspired by the school project a heart warming read.

A whole host of friends lives collide with secrets revealed and situations shared this little group by the river have more drama than a family does! It was gripping and so many perspectives told the story from the view of that specific character we could really feel the emotions they went through and get a tone for them. The writing was lovely and flowed super well I didn't tire of endless drama and instead was hooked to finish the book!

#Very Fat #Very Brave by Nicole Byer

In this book, Nicole is sassy, fun and very straight forwards in her language towards the world and how everyone should embrace themselves and wear the damn bikini!

In a time when the body positive movement has come to embrace more and accept people more whatever their size, I also loved the photo graphs in the book, especially the banana bikini love it! Looking fearless and fine just a woman loving her body in a bikini and some cute bikini's love the dinosaur print one myself!

However when Fred becomes unwell, her friends Robbie and Keri help her rehome Daisy a dog in need and maybe Lily and Charlotte won't be left pet less after all...

A great read about family, friendship between any ages and a love of animals and pets Fred and Daisy showed the difference between dog's characters as they age but still how much they love their spring owners. Lily wanting a dog is just like I was wanting a rabbit and her character was so relatable that way!

Going Up! By Sherry J Lee

This book is fabulous for showing a sense of community in a tower block of flats/appartments. People and dogs of all ages join in the party fun with their friends and family to celebrate their friends birthday all together bringing their own treats to the party to share together.

The illustrations brought the story to life and I loved how the characters had a pencil sketch and coloured in feel about them too.

It was a great read that'll teach children about sharing, caring and helping others especially those in the same community.

Dare To Fall by Estelle Maskame

Mackenzie doesn't deal well with death after the twins Dani and Jaden, her friends lost their parents a year ago and Kenzie cut them out of her life unsure of how to act and what to say, just as she was becoming close to Jaden.

In this time between she has made friends with sport fanatic Holden and Will, a gay guy.

A year on however, after approaching Dani, Jaden starts to talk to her again after a chance meeting again just maybe what they were could be rekindled?

Through the novel we see how Kenzie has had to deal with a lot from her mum's binge drinking to forget her grief, dealing with her ex, Darren an older guy who's clingy and wants her back and holding down her job too.

Especially when a huge secret from her best friend could shatter what she could've nearly had once again...

The serious issues and the friendships were dealt with really well Estelle always writes great books with plenty of detail, twists and best of all killer couples with crazy attraction. The book shows how grief can cause people to change and not know how to act for fear of acting or saying something wrong most often and how it can be hard to come back from and save a friendship takes a lot of hard work.

The Jetsetters by Amanda Eyre Ward

Charlotte loses best friend Minnie to old age and feels life is slipping her by after a rocky childhood and marriage empty of love and ending tragically suddenly.

Charlotte's son Cord is an alcoholic as he deals with being a closeted gay though happily engaged to his love, Giovanni but fearful of his family judging him.

Charlotte's daughter's, Lee a failed actress heading home with a  huge life changing secret and failed relationship and Regan a mother wanting to break free of her marriage by setting it up to fail and allow her to break free to be happy.

All they want is to get away but not necessarily together however in coming together their lives come apart and their jigsaw pieces of their lives might just fix into more positive futures with any luck...

This was a great summer read whilst we await the heat to arrive and we can't travel either right now! Referred plenty of drama though I did find the odd chapter ending left roots planted for scenes ahead which didn't materialise so I may have just thought too deeply into those but it doesn't matter as plenty else happens! I liked the aspect of a broken family falling apart to them come back together eventually and try to get on better for the future after realising a few home truths!

Many thanks to the publishers for allowing me to review this book for them!

#Help by Rae Earl

Millie has a female cat called Dave and best friend Lauren. She lives with her mum and her boyfriend Gary who's a clean freak and loves his robot hoover.

Since staying at her dads her Instagram posts get more hits and lauren encourages her to star her own vlog. So in her granddad's shed, she starts to vlog there while Lauren's parents constantly argue and Millie gets mean comments on her vlogs the girls face some tough times.

Bradley and her kiss he's a bit nerdy and into science etc but also vlogs and is great with a good following on his channel but a new guy Danny joins the school too...

Millie is a typical modern day teen loving YouTube and feeling judged a lot. Typical modern day tropes are in this book all the way through from bullying online, friendship, love, school and dealing with parents dating too! It was fun to read about Dave the wild girl cat too if you like Emma Moss's Girl's Can Vlog series this book is for you!

Scars Like Wings by Erin Stewart

Ava survives a fire which claimed her parents and her cousin, Sara. After going through dramatic changes physically in hospital through endless skin grafts she is finally released home. Or rather to her new home where Sara used to live. Now with her aunt and uncle, th y get her to start high school and we see how the kids react to her

At her support group she meets Piper, a loud mouth car crash survivor who's in a wheelchair seemingly only temporarily she also likes music like Ava and likes a band called Atticus only in real life the words are by Atticus the poet you can find on Instagram who I'm a huge fan off and was great to see mentioned in the book.

As Ava gets encouraged by Asad and Piper to reclaim her place on the stage in drama not just hide away and be a stage hand as her voice is better than queen B Kenzies she learns about Kenzie and Piper and how they used to be friends and just how their relationship changed.

Ava also has to deal with her aunt and uncle wracking up debt in her name for her surgery needs and how she copes with the memories from the fire after she remembers how she escaped and has to also deal with the mental scars from their separate accidents as Piper needs her.

Ava and Piper deal with a lot that's relatable from being social outcasts in school, dealing with stares, whispered chatter about them, healing, depression, counselling, unrequited crushes and more the girls bond is a united, complicated unity that highlights how healing and recovery are better with a support network around you. It was a great tale about dealing with the aftermath of death and escaping that despite gaining life changing injuries.

Many thanks to the publishers for allowing me to review this book for them!

The Day I Was Erased by Lisa Thompson

Maxwell adores his dog Monster and annoys his sister Bex and elderly next door neighbor. While his parents always argue and label their food to show how they are separate from each other one thing they can agree on is when Maxwell has been bad.

Reg is an elderly neighbour who Maxwell gets on well with and often goes to his to hideaway and relax while Reg unfortunately suffers with dementia never knowing who Maxwell is but the pair admire Reg's collection of treasures which is where things go awry...

After a bad day at school and realising no one likes him or wants to be round him Maxwell wishes himself not to exist and just like that he ends up in the same world only a version where he hadn't even been born and no one there knows him.

I really loved the concept of the book and how Maxwell realises that he's not been the nicest kid around. There was a good twist with Reg towards the end that made the book have a good ending and it was sadly relatable as I'm sure at some point as a kid we all want to disappear for whatever reason.

The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo

Xiomara is a young girl who lives in a religious house judged by her fierce mother. Hating her home life for them being forced into prayer and having their parents beliefs forced as their own, she struggles to hide her growing relationship with Aman who she falls for and starts to explore her feelings more fully.

Meanwhile her twin she calls simply, Twin, is gay and she helps him as she sees him with his crush or boyfriend and hides the matter from their would disapprove parents.

As Xiomara partakes in writing poetry she ends becoming involved in slam poetry despite everything she goes through she rises likes phoenix quite literally you will see...

Acevedo makes a fantastic debut. It's obvious she's a passionate poet both her and Xiomara I never enjoy religion mentioned in books not being religious myself but it was fine in this a lot but key to the story as it plays out. It was moving and compelling reading I can't wait to see what Elizabeth writes next!

The Sky Is Mine by Amy Beashel

In this book we meet Izzy, a girl who's being blackmailed into sleeping with a guy, Jacob from her school while at home she and her mum are domestically and verbally abused by Daniel, Izzy's stepfather and her mum's husband.

Grace is her best friend but spends most of her time now with her girlfriend Nell and makes Izzy jealous of their close bond as she feels pushed out and unwanted.

However as things keep worsening with Jacob and Daniel, her mum one day decides enough is enough and the pair up and leave with dramatic consequences...

This book tackles many girlhood topics and I recommend it for teens to read.

I loved this book Izzy is a body positive hard as nails girl who has to deal with so much life rubbish from loss, rape, consent issues, blackmail, friendship drama and maybe falling in love, Izzy is a teen who raises many issues and tackles them all alongside her rebecoming herself mum, new love interest and with a kicking playlist to boot for ultimate positive vibes, this book was a fantastic debut knocking these topics out of the park, you need to read this book!

The Girl Who Thought She Was A Dog by Clare Balding

When baby Fennel is brought home, Twiglet the boxer becomes her guardian protecting her as she grows up and the pair become inseparable to the point that Fennel acts more like a boxer than a baby, then a girl as she has to try and act more human to fit in at school, she decides to enter Crufts at the NEC and prove to everyone that Twiglet is as amazing as she see's him to be!

This was a fun original idea and made a great quick read I wish it was a proper full length adventure involving the pair and showed how their futures play out after the brilliant ending.

Isadora Moon Goes Camping by Harriet Muncaster

Isadora in school recalls when she and her family went camping and what an eventful time it was with her fairy mum and vampire dad, pink rabbit and baby Honeyblossom.

From losing her dad's precious comb, flying at night and meeting a mermaid princess it may seem farfetched but is a delightful uplifting story.

I love this series so much Pink Rabbit and Isadora are a fab duo of friends and seeing the family go on a normal holiday despite them being not so normal and how their magical ways can interfere make a me wish magic existed as well as mermaids too!

In this book Monty shares with us his years of knowledge from cultivating his own gardens over the years.

For our small garden we have some of the plants touched upon in this book and it's true that hardy plants come back year after year in beautiful displays of colour and passiflora climbers add great detail to our garden when they flourish in summer.

A great handy coffee table book with pictures of gardens Monty has designed to help annotate throughout!

Carrying on from part one we see how Regan reacts to the news that Charlie shockingly dropped at the end of part one which was a shock.

Can taking chances guide her in work and love?

I can't wait for the next part once again Bella is a world wizard and I'm also intrigued into Cleo coming back from her work trip and reacting to everything that's changed for Regan too this story so far has me hooked and rooting for Charlie and Regan to work out and enjoy their happiness no matter how short lives of could be!

My Brother's Name Is Jessica by John Boyne

In this book Sam idolizes his older brother Jason a talented footballer and the two have a close sibling bond as their parents don't have a lot of time for them as they work for the government in parliament.

However, growing up Jason comes out one day to the family with his secret. His parents react badly thinking it's a silly phase while
Sam is curious and doesn't care just wanting Jason to be happy again especially as Jason gets bullied at school for his girly longer hair, scrunchie and scarf he wears despite comments and bullying.

Can the family survive the truth from Jessica?

Showing bravely how coming out can make it break a family and the stress and upset it can initially cause this was a brave and bold read which I hope will open people's eyes to how coming out is a massive huge deal to admit who they really truly are.

The Cornish Cream Tea Summer Part 1 All You Knead Is Love by Cressida McLaughlin

Lila is Charlie's cousin who surprises her by turning up out of the blue after a disaster in London with her best friend and job.

It safe to say drama follows Lila as an opportunity for the Cream Tea Bus to work with a BBC production arises and Lila is eager practically signing them up before asking Charlie properly!up

As Lila gets to grips working the bus, brushing shoulders with tv stars and many guys Lila wonders of maybe Cornwall can serve her life well like it has leading Charlie to Daniel and then they drop a huge bombshell on her, can she cope?

This series is one of my favourite ever discoveries and seeing Lila arrive and enjoy the area, uniqueness of the bus and the chance to be part of a filming set is great fun to read. If you enjoy Cornwall, food or baking and love stories this is a book for you a magical read I wish I could wander into myself and live in!

Many thanks to the publishers for allowing me to review this book for them!

First Day Of My Life by Lisa Williamson

In this book we follow Frankie as on GCSE results day her best friend Jojo doesn't show up as a baby went missing and Frankie puts two and two together to think as Jojo has been acting so out of sorts she could have abducted the baby randomly.

Frankie calls on her ex boyfriend Ram to help her as she traces her to far away in Swindon where the two discover a life changing shock can the three ever be on good terms with each other again?

This book was a fabulous read with a great twist the initial mystery of a baby going missing was thrilling and I would've like to have seen how that side played out too as well as Frankie and Jojo's friendship story too. The trio battle a lot of drama and if like me you enjoyed The Baby by Lisa Drakeford you should definitely read this one or both of course!

Thanks to David Fickling books for kindly sending me a copy to review!

Donut Dreams Book 2 So Jelly by Coco Simon

Kelsey in this book is dealing with lots of change from new friends to sharing her family with her cousin who she's jealous of getting attention from her mum.

Kelsey also has to adapt to new hobbies as she takes part in sport and student council too can she cope with everything changing at once?

It was a good book though I didn't enjoy Kelsey's story as much as the previous one it was still a great read and good to see another perspective from the family this series focusses on. I was glad to see how the outcome came to be and liked the way it went.

The Brilliant World Of Tom Gates Book 1 by Liz Pichon

Tom is friends with Derek and likes Amy who he tries to impress and dislikes Marcus who he doesn't get along with.

I really enjoyed this book and the diary/drawing style it's in after loving the Dork Diaries series I'm glad I picked this one to read next too with the everyday relatable things like school and annoying sisters to random drama that's unthinkable happening it kept me entertained the whole way through!

Great Destinations Of A Lifetime by Claudia Martin

In this book packed with stunning photography my stand out faves were the blue lagoon, ice caves and northern luights in Iceland as well as...
