When The Sun Had A Hue by Jupiter M. Moon
This poetry collection truly captures the nostalgic feeling of longing for childhood, the freedom we once had and the innocence of life when young without burden.
Some stand out poems of this collection to me were:
Velvet Dreams, the opening poem perfectly captures the collection's theme and sets the scene.
A Big Yard, was a poem I think many of us can relate to in the way our free time was free and now everything is so expensive we have to to work to stay afloat and have no free time left over for us more frequently now.
I don't care for the beach anymore, about how life now through media formats inspires us to stay indoors not embracing life and our bodies instead feeling judged.
A Pea & Surgery, were two fun poems about the way we played and embraced creativity as children unburdened by feeling judged for what we did or loved.
Lost In A Book, was a beautiful poem of the joy of reading as a child and the way growing up tv and media can take over and so we stop enjoying it so easily anymore.
The Words Have Changed Too, about the language and phrases from childhood fun and joy become stale and demanding as an adult.
Awakening, was the deepest poem to me of the whole collection especially the mention of loss as with age comes new layers of grief and loss in friends, family and pets too.
It was a truly beautiful collection of poetry I know so many of us growing up through the same realisations will read and resonate with.
