Cat's Cafe by Matt Tarpley

In this comic based around the lives of animals who interact daily with each other at Cats Café, we see how mental health is the base line and how anxiety, stress, lack of self love etc all effect the adorable animals and how they help build each other up and become friends with each other.

A book showing how a little kindness can go a long loving way I relate most to the anxious bunny especially on the anxiety reducing headphones part, that's totally me!

Summer At The Cornish Café by Philippa Ashley

Demi works in a café with her friend and landlady Sheila only for a scene to happen and her to be made homeless along with her beloved dog, Mitch, thanks to Mawgan Cade a local business woman who's formidable.

After Cal returns from the middle East with secrets and tales of hardship out there, he discovers his love Isla has moved on and become engaged to all people, his now ex best friend.

So when Cal decides to take on his inheritance, Kilhallon park and turn it into holiday accommodation, he finds himself hiring Demi and the pair become close work partners with great ideas for the business and sizzling chemistry brewing between them...

With jealousy, secrets and offers of new work hovering around this cast of characters in this community, just what will change for the better or worse...

I liked that there was Isla made to be alike A princess in contrast to Demi being like a pauper on the street. Mawgan and her family not realising her sister is gay and also had a girlfriend in Robyn shows just how blind she was to her family and how cold to them too being a businesswomen first and foremost! The characters worked well together and the drama flowed easily each scene and chapter had so much detail I love Phillipa's writing!

The 24 Hour Café by Libby Page

Hannah and Mona a singer and dancer, work at the 24 hour cafe in London where the cafe attracts a colourful variety of personalities everyday.

I really enjoyed the Lido however I do feel this book wasn't as good personally as I didn't like Hannah or Mona's characters sadly as much as The Lido's main characters where I could picture it clearly in my mind and I did find the start slow. However Hannah's story kept me wanting to read on as the plot develops more so than Mona's story did.

However if you love people watching when out and about this is the book for you as the café attracts a variety of people with different stories, very true to everyday life at any café and for relatability that way the fun of the storyline kept me intrigued to read on especially Dan the student and John the big issue seller's stories were interesting to me to see their hardship.

There was a variety of issues raised with characters from university, death, love, cheating, work and of course we read the history of how Hannah met Mona and how their friendship becomes strained with new opportunities ahead.

To me I enjoyed the book showing all walks of life people can be in and situations they can be forced to face and for that reason I did enjoy the book as it went on.

The Bakery At Seashell Cove by Karen Clarke

Meg and Sam are a young couple engaged and soon to be married. Meg works part time in a cafe and the rest of the time in the old bakery as it awaits sale after the death of its owner.

Nathan whose overseeing the sale catches her eye and she starts to daydream about him much to the amusement of Cassie and Tilly her friends.

When she gets the chance to take part in Britain's hidden gems tv show she talks of never knowing her father and her mum's agoraphobia amongst things and soon the world or at least programme viewers learn their business.

Sam is too interested in Cycling and so she looks on Facebook and discovers George, a woman secretly in their cycling group. Whilst his family always seem to disapprove of Meg and judge her harshly.

Meg's mum suffers with agoraphobia and is also constantly pushing Meg to get pregnant ASAP as she is unawares of her daughter's growing unease and feelings about her situation.

So when Freya a rich local woman and her husband want to buy the bakery to become an ice cream parlour, Meg is unhappy but then an anonymous buyer appears...

Facing up to her relationship and work life woes Meg needs to turn her life around fast and make herself truly happy forever.

This book was a lovely chick lit, women's fiction read and was full of drama. The writing was engaging and there were some hilarious one liners at times in this book. Meg's story will probably be relatable to women out there suffering the same issues. I would've liked some different scenarios with whom the anonymous buyer turns out to be but you shall have to judge that for yourself!

Christmas At The Cornish Café by Phillipa Ashley

As Demelza the café is approaching it's opening, now it's October after the summer since starting the series off, everyone pulls together to make it work.

When Kit reveals a shocking surprise to Cal after he sees him with Mawgan their lives all change at this revelation.

Physical and emotional battles get revealed for Cal he finally confides in Demi a huge secret while Demi has a shock turn around with her dad and their relationship.

There is a sentence at the end of the book about Christmas not being perfect and how we shouldn't expect it to be. I have to say not only is it true anyway but definitely in my family as we always lose members at Christmas and sadly my beloved auntie passed on the 21st the same day my grandma passed a year before I was born unfortunately. In this book Phillipa makes it a very emotional ride with family at the heart throughout. With all the issues arising for the extra cast of characters we can't help but get hooked on the storyline it draws us in and makes us appreciate the family and friends we have and can share the joys of Christmas with.

Love Among The Treetops by Catherine Ferguson

When Twilight meets Theo on a train as well as Olivia a clean eating fanatic who turns out to be now friends with her old school bully, Lucy, who made her life hell then and soon again, now. She also stole Twilight's first love away, Jason.

Her dad is fighting cancer while her mum and him are falling into debt. However she has a plan to help them by setting up her own business as a cafe as she loves to bake, it's her passion.

Also happening in this book, Paloma her best friend lost her mum and now wants to find her birth mum while Twilight gets on with her cafe plan, Lucy and Olivia open the clean food cafe and try to sabotage her in some truly rotten acts only Twilight learns it's her old love Jason who has all the answers to Lucy's behaviour.

With a huge but powerful twist at the end for Paloma, Theo and Twilight which changes all their lives the book just kept giving and you can't help but slowly fall in love with The Treetop Cafe!

Pumpkin Spice Secrets by Hillary Homzie

Maddie along with Elvie her sister, go to buy drinks out and discuss her beginning seventh grade, only after she spills her drink all down a really cute guy's back, she finds herself gaining a crush on him, Jacob who later winds up in her new school class.

Then when one of her best friends Jana announces she has a crush on Jacob, Maddie feels unsure of what to do about her feelings, after all there's girl code to think of!

Yet, when Maddie ends up texting Jacob and arranging to meet up with him on his birthday behind Jana's back we can expect Jana to find out eventually somehow as they fight for their friendship over a guy the two are put to the test.

Overall it's a great book for early teen readers to pick up with cute moments and first crushes as well as dealing with friendship and school troubles with grades it's a relatable read for us all!

Summer At The Castle Cafe by Donna Ashcroft

Jay lost his brother ten years ago and now work on Lifeboats saving lives and stopping people getting into danger in the sea. He has also just split from his long term girlfriend as she moves to Dubai for her career.

Alice left London months ago after managing a restaurant to work in Castle Cafe only we see how amazingly clumsy she is at the start of the book! But we also see how well she fits in there with Cath and Lily whom work there too.

After she attempts to try and swim in the sea Jay interrupts her before she can into any trouble they also run into each other when Alice is on her bike and again when Jay offers his carpentry skills to the cafe to fix the cupboard she broke off the wall.

Alice and Jay train for the triathlon together after Alice reveals she is doing it for her mum who always took part who's just passed away months before as Alice has just moved to finally be with her despite it being just too late. As the story develops, we watch as Alice and Jay become friends and how they both help each other as Alice injured her ankle and Jay needs someone to help him organise, not to mention they wind up rescuing someone while our on the water which causes Alice to confess something to Jay.

As Alice prepares to leave for Thailand to live with her dad and his new wife, Beth she helps Cath find her happy ever after with the right guy and finds it hard to say bye to Jay after their relationship developed so much. But will be give up on them?

The main castle setting is a lavish sounding and seeming affair, like something out of a Disney film with many offerings besides just a cafe. The tone of the book is very holiday like and idyllic, I felt like it was a believable story and really enjoyed it. Drama aside, there were funny times, emotional times and I praise Donna for including about the lifeboats services for all they do saving lives and risking their own under bad or good situations.
The cover is also gorgeous and so pretty with all the pastel colours popping and catching my eye all the time!

A perfect girly read for this time of year in the Spring/Summer sunshine!
