Lying About Last Summer by Sue Watson

Skye witnessed her sister Luisa being murdered poolside at their old house last summer. This summer, she is returning to a nearby grief activity camp for a week to try and move on and accept her sister's death.

All she knows is her sister was in a relationship with Nico, a bad guy and a drug user whom didn't seem right for her unlike their old farm shop working friend Toby.

At the camp, she discovers creepy Joe who seems over friendly and too controlling who's girlfriend committed suicide. Meanwhile she befriends Brandon, Fay and Danielle.

As time wears on, Skye starts to receive messages supposedly from Luisa on their messaging app only something somethings seems off as Skye realises it can't truly be her, can it?

So Skye sets off investigating all those at camp with her, from drug takers and old friends, before a final explosive near death this book may start slowly, but the investigation culminates in a satisfying way for sure as a minor plot also overtakes the original one. I found by the end I was thoroughly satisfied with a nice quick mystery thriller and Sue has a couple more you should check out as well if you like this one!

The Comeback Season by Jennifer E. Smith

Ryan meets Nick at a baseball game on the fifth anniversary of her father's death. On the same day her mum and Kevin her step dad announced they are pregnant much to the joy of her little sister. Meanwhile, Nick and Ryan work together on a maths project whilst they hang out so much they don't go to the school dance together but Ryan does get a shock when Nick reveals he has and has had osteosarcoma tumors which is why he keeps having his arm break.

After getting over the shock, a silly mind bet and blaming herself for unforeseeable issues that rock the couple, Ryan and Nick sure have an eventful life together.

A really baseball heavy book but with a good The Fault In Our Stars only not as sad or dramatic edge that made me find the characters stories working really well.

You Are Here by Jennifer E. Smith

Emma comes from a family of high achievers but has always felt lost.

Peter has his alcoholic police sheriff whilst being a high achiever.

Emma concocts a plan to travel to North Carolina arriving just about on her seventeenth birthday as she wants to find out about a brother she never knew, Thomas her twin.

After a break down and a pick up, Emma and Peter become travel buddies along with their companion of a stray three legged dog. As the two travel to Gettysburg, have a run in with the police, make it to the cemetery where she feels closer than ever to her whole self and find her family waiting for her after realizing what she uncovered and maybe things can finally get better between the family at last.

I read this book in an hour and a half before bed and it was obviously that good! I really enjoyed the journey though the family size did make me mix up a few characteristics of characters with similar names but that was just me otherwise the story was fun despite the edge of sadness.

The Geography Of You And Me by Jennifer E. Smith

Lucy lives in a block in Manhattan with a crush on the new boy, Owen who moved in with his father.

When she gets stuck in the lift with him in their building, it sparks a new friendship which progresses despite both of them facing moving apart, Lucy to Edinburgh and Owen to Lake Tahoe. They keep in touch at first by postcard but eventually the contact between the two fades and weakens as Lucy grows close to Liam, a boy she meets on her first day at school in Edinburgh she questions her feelings on the situation with Owen and Liam and what about Liam meeting a new girl too as Paisley enters his life when he moves...

Can love stands geographical challenges?

This was a great story which I loved for the fact that they didn't just rely on email but postcard sending too which is a lost art to me as no one really does send them anymore. The way they are forced together and then apart made it seem brutal but their hearts kept growing fonder for sure making it a cute read.

My Rad Life: A Journal by Kate Schatz

This a journal is an empowering book for women and girls filled with influential quotes and illustrations of some of the most famous and idolized women in the world today.

The idea is that we can use this journal to express ourselves in any way we want, with our own doodles or quotes, stories, poems or whatever the heck you want to fill the space with!

It is a great journal to allow us to dream big of our life we want and how to achieve it step by step like the women mentioned have done.

Waiting For Callback by Perdita & Honor Cargill

In this book, we follow the journey of Elektra Ophelia as she signs up with an acting agency and experiences her normal teen life at school and drama club whilst also attending many auditions for varying roles of interest.

Each role Elektra gets put forward for is very different to say the least!

From squirrel voicing to playing a carrot on an advert, the book has hilarious highs then the usual teenage larks come in to play.
From a best friend argument to kissing a boy at a party and then her mum later seeing them together! The book keeps you entertained and is a great read for any other fifteen year old girl like Elektra.

Super Awkward by Beth Garrod

Bella is fifteen and a half with a lot of unfortunate events which are hilarious but still tragic to her as she faces the embarrassment of them!

Her best friend Rachel is having her sixteenth birthday party on the night Bella's mum takes her and her thirteen going on thirty year old sister away to an odd mystic Meg style retreat. As if this isn't bad enough, her ex Luke texts her a picture of him kissing a new and unidentifiable girl which makes Bella wonder who it is.

Then close to the end of her holiday, she meets seventeen year old Zac. Musician, college student and with a crazier mum possibly than her own! They met under laughable circumstances and clicked over their shared same style humour and Bella finds herself crushing hard.

Yet as the book progresses, Zac turns up at her school as a sixth form helper to the lower years! That's not all either as a huge reveal about his home life becomes apparent too.

As Bella tries hard to save her prom which hangs in the balance of severely endangered, Luke starts to cause a lot of trouble, will he manage to split up Bella, Rachel and Tamsin for good?!

Also, look out for the ending, a sure to make you shriek with happiness moment!

A fun, girly, gritty and witty read! It's full of awesome hilariously jaw dropping moments, unputdownable and perfect to read in the sun and summertime!

Playlist For A Broken Heart by Cathy Cassidy

Used to the rich life of private school and mansion home in Richmond, London, nothing prepares Paige for just what is about to happen to her life.

She finds herself out of the play she desperately wanted to star in, playing Juliet opposite her Romeo, Alex and instead moving to Bath to live with her mum, dad, aunt, uncle and their three young sons, Tasmin their daughter whom she finds herself sharing a room with and their cat and dog.

When her aunt buys her a CD from a charity shop she's intrigued, the bands are local and their songs are summing up her life right now perfectly. She plans along with cousin Tasmin and her best friend, Clover, to track down the mystery boy who made this mix and resolve the case of who made the CD that knows her so well.

Of course, in the story her best friend from back in Richmond Allegra visits along with Alex and they come for the music festival happening and too see the flat that eventually her family moves into and makes their new home whilst her mum works in a school office with her sister and her dad sets up his new business. This book was a great fast read and perfectly makes you believe that love can bloom out of any situation no matter how bad things seem. I loved the mystery and how well the girls jelled overall by the end of the book, they truly needed each other family and friendship wise and the final conclusion to whom exactly the mystery boy is was great too and made me feel like Paige was going to be with the guy for a long time.
