The First Date by Zara Stoneley

After long term boyfriend Robbie goes off to find himself, Rosie sets out online dating only when she gets stood up by Gabe, she meets handsome, witty, charmer Noah.

Rosie and Noah have a connection all through the book but thanks to Rosie's player dad she won't let herself fall for Noah thinking he'll turn out like her dad and hurt her too.

Her dad, is a cheat plain and simple and her mum is fabulous at the end of the book as is Noah and his friends as Gabe turns up in a random shocking way! Noah also had a hidden depth behind getting close to Rosie after past losses from loving someone alike his best friend Jed and was really moving bringing them closer together.

I rooted for Rosie and Noah a fabulous couple from the start I was hooked on this book!

A Summer At Sea by Katie Fforde

Emily is a midwife whom believes in home births and is passionate about her jojob, so when she wants a break from the stress of work, her old friend Becca whom has a puffer boat she runs with her husband offers her a seasonal job as a cook whilst Becca prepares for the imminent birth of her new baby.

Whilst there, Emily meets Kate a nine year old and Maisie an hundred year old lady whose passion is knitting. She also falls into a friendship with Kate and her father, Alasdair as she knits Kate and her teddy bear clothes.

The story shows how talk chances and embracing change can deliver a life you love and never knew you wanted. The changes in Emily and her happiness come about so naturally as she rekindles her friendship properly with Becca and finds love. A romantic heartening story anyone can enjoy as a relaxing read!

One Last Greek Summer by Mandy Baggot

Beth and best friend Heidi are off to Greece to have some fun in the sun, only when they get there they don't bank on the ceiling of their holiday home falling down in front of them!

Beth just doesn't expect to bump into old love Alex whilst there after divorcing her husband after he cheated on her with a work colleague.

Heidi is a lesbian as is hoping to find a summer going or more on the trip as well as encouraging Beth to move on from Charles.

Alex lives with his bossy mum but secretly keeps his DJ love going as his cousin Elektra also secretly works with him on setting up a business in health using kumquats to create their natural products.

As Charles Beth's ex husband arrives to try and win her back, Beth and Alex are happily looking to a future together after being apart for so long. Heidi has to win over Elektra after revealing her fake identity after discovering who Elektra is thanks to Beth and Alex. While Alex's mum must reveal the truth behind Alex's father and letting him become his own man, not controlled and unhappy anymore by her.

Being true to yourself is the heart of this novel, from love interest to sexuality and never giving up on dreams this is a perfect holiday read and reading this you'll wish you're on holiday and had your own Alex or Elektra to fall for!

The Racehorse Who Wouldn't Gallop Book 1 by Clare Balding

In this book we meet aspiring horse rider Charlie who lives on a farm with her family who are struggling for money to keep it up for much longer as things need replacing or fixing especially.

Her best friend Polly loves to ride and opposite to Charlie's family they have the money too, so when Charlie accidentally causes her family to buy a horse and pony at auction they must try their best to make their investment worthwhile else they can say goodbye to their lives as they know it.

Charlie gets bullied about her thunder thighs and state of her clothes a lot by her brother's but Clare makes this a positive showing how it benefits riders to be more well built and how it aids riding and controlling a horse. It was a thrilling read and Charlie was a fabulous character full of courage when others doubted her.

Meet Me At Pebble Beach Part 1 Out Of The Blue by Bella Osborne

When Regan's artist friend Cleo leaves to go abroad on a work trip, Regan's life falls into tatters over a lottery ticket she thought she'd won big on thanks to a sour prank by her work colleague Alex.

Losing her home with partner Jarvis her job and life as she knew it, kind homeless man and his dog Kevin and Elvis and new stranger Charlie help her realise that though she may be down on her luck and without any millions she can still change her life into a better one...

I loved this first instalment of Bella's new book so much from down on her luck Regan, mysterious Kevin and his dog Elvis and Mantra the mindfulness group cracked me up as if you don't know Bring Me The Horizon sung a song called Mantra which kept going through my head while reading and isn't a classic to help with mindfulness really! The intrigue means I will certainly being reading the next part especially to see what will happen with handsome kind stranger Charlie and Regan.

The ending was a shocker prepare yourselves a wonderful drama rollercoaster ride of emotions book!

This was a fantastic book all about the impact and choice of suicide. It was a deep and tearful read to get through but so much happened I flew through it in a day. A fabulous debut about an ever important topic.

Christmas At Rachel's Pudding Pantry by Caroline Roberts

Rachel, mum Jill, granny Ruth and daughter Maisie are back in a Christmas adventure in their pudding pantry.

As they begin a pudding club which builds in success, Rachel finds herself too busy to see Tom while she discovers her ex has a new girlfriend in tow when he decides to make a rare visit to see Maisie while she discovers Tom's ex is also back, but why?

As the joy of Christmas arrives, hard work and heavy snowfall threaten to make this Christmas a tough time, can Rachel find herself having a good Christmas and spending time with Tom at last too or will plans to awry?

I loved that characters from Caroline's other books made an appearance too while there was a snowdog line which won me over being a huge The snowman fan! The cast of characters really made the pudding club come to life and the time of each character shone through it was a fabulous easy Christmas read with plenty of drama to keep you hooked on reading more I just can't wait for the next one now after that final chapter too!

A breakdown of a friendship, new job abroad and a new love around the world, each character winds up in the own ever after but are they all happy, read it to find out!

Told from Laurie's and Jack's perspectives, their stories collide in a unique and frankly harmless way until the drama ensues and forbidden love becomes an issue. They both go through the motions but drag Sarah through it with them all the while and later Oscar too. It was a great read and shows how life can present the most unique of meetings that can change your life for ever, this book is life changing for them and us as we share their story, a fantastic read for those who've been through tough love situations.

A Winter Retreat At The Paris Cheese Shop: Part 1 by Victoria Brownlee

After living together as a happy couple in Melbourne for eight years Paul has decided to call it quits with Ella as he attempts to go off to Thailand and discover himself as inspired by Jessyka, his gym cross fit buddy.

Ella was expecting a proposal, not this and so was her mum too!

So post breakup, her friend Billie is there with wine and cheese as Ella recalls meeting Paul as a student in France and how he's changed into a high flying financial man since then but it inspires her to make a bold move and quit her job and live in Paris for a year. In her words, 'to drink wine and eat cheese!'

So she heads off to Paris where she explores all the little coffee shops and finds her dream cheese shop where she buys some great cheeses she falls in love with. Ella also looks for work and finds a cafe with an Australian server of all coincidences and finds a hot mystery man...

Who knows where Ella's journey will take her eventually? She is a headstrong and impulsive woman for sure taking on Paris alone and not a hundred percent certain of the language! She's hugely likeable and this book was a lovely easy read to immerse myself in, I could imagine walking Paris streets myself, I love it!

Four Of A Kind by Kellie Bean

Reagan is one of four girls who are quadruples at a new school. Reagan may struggle at the new school but her sister's lives aren't as perfect as she first thought, Rhiannon, Reilly and Reece are all going through stuff, not being able to do their favorite activities like seeing old friends, boyfriends and clubs means finding new one's within a new community and as the family is news to moving to the area they're all feelings the pressure to keep up a good image for the whole family, especially their mum.

Reagan however finds herself chancing the brushes of love with Kent and throwing herself into the school's drama club as well as keeping up online with her old friend Nadine.

We really see how change impacts life as a teen and how much it changes us and the people we thought we knew. I enjoyed this book and it had a great Halloween section too. I recommend this if you can relate to the situations mentioned or just like a nice young adult fiction.

In this book we meet Caro, who's mum lay dying as she discovers just where her absent father disappeared to and why...

Meanwhile Bernadette finally finds the courage to leave her loveless and emotionally abusive husband to enjoy the finer things in life she wants to for a change...

So as Caro discovers who Lila is and Lila discovers Bernadette, their lives link in ways that see the day change their lives forever.

This was a fabulous book, set only over the course of a day all I can say is it was stunning. A captivating, gripping and tumultuous read indeed! I loved courageous Caro, rooted for Bernadette and seethed at Lila and Ken's characters, they deserved each other in my opinion! Cammy Lila's would be fiancée was such a sweet guy, she missed a good one there she didn't deserve him though in my opinion! As you can tell I became attached to the characters reading on I felt like I was invested in their lives as if I were a nosy neighbour or family member! But I truly recommend this book to you, for all the drama the emotional journey and relationships between the characters made it a welcome addition to the chick lit, romance genre, it has been one of my favourite reads for the genre this year.

Paper Hearts and Summer Kisses by Carole Matthews

Christie is in her forties with a teen son, Finn and a divorce in her past as well as a career as a PA for a law firm which doesn't excite her like her passion for crafting does as she loves nothing better than her crafty TV channel and getting her hands going making many cards etc.

When she replies or rather her mum does on her behalf to an add for a future collaboration with an American craft company of which she would love to work for she never expects a reply or for what entails next!

However as her son becomes increasingly unwell with a permanent headache and collapsing which seems obviously a serious issue she doesn't get there for a diagnosis quickly as she wished and soon the worst is confirmed and torn between her son, love and work she feels pulled in many directions before the world helps her figure it out...

This book makes you appreciate family and those you love as well as bringing awareness of health issues and the importance of persistence! Follow your dreams and you never know where it may lead this left me feeling full of hope and positivity as well as wanting to get crafting again!

The Postcard by Zoe Folbigg

In this second book of the series so far, Maya and her train man James set off to explore for a year places in the world they've never been to.

However what should be a good trip soon starts to show its cracks after they leave the wedding they were invited to, from traveling in a cramped bed compartment on a bus, trying weird and frankly awful sounding animal dishes and going for colonics at the orders of Maya's magazine column bosses the trip soon starts to look more worse than good...

Meanwhile back at home Maya's best friend Nena a children's entertainer and ballet dancer is now facing life as a new mum struggling a lot from crying, losing her temper and patience, being permanently tired and her husband still working, she's jealous of Maya and her ability to up and explore but just what is her husband Tom up to...

This book was fab, I was more engaged and hooked on the story in this second book of the series as the multiple perspectives were gripping seeing how each character faces a struggle and what gets thrown at them throughout the book kept me wanting to read on! It was a perfect holiday read I recommend especially if you enjoyed The I Heart series by Lindsey Kelk, based on a real life love story this is an amazing account of how life can throw you into various happy or sad moments!

The book started off on an hilarious note about a cake being made as a toilet and who isn't going to be drawn in by that sentence! I loved the journey to France and discovering the whole chemistry over the history with Andre and couldn't put it down I liked the pace of the book and the characters where super relatable as I'm sure in real life people have been in this position before!

Jemima Small Vs The Universe by Tamsin Winter

Jemima Small hates how she looks bigger than the other girls and her surname, small for being her opposite.

She's proudly smart and is excited when an opportunity to take part in Braniacs her favourite TV show arises she's happy but at the same time, everything said to her by the kids, bullies, strangers all builds up.

Jemima has a great best friend in Miki who never fails to stick up for her while her old best friend Alina ditched her to hang out with Lottie who bullies Jemima.

As she faces joining far club forced to after being humiliated in school, she makes friends with others who feel like she does and makes a friend in Gina who runs the course.

Throughout the novel Jemima is courageous and learns that being herself is a great thing despite her issues around her weight, mum and bullies. She is a brave character and a typical teen when she wants to dye her hair rainbow which some of us can relate to! I loved her brainiac personality and zany family Tamsin has created a book that'll be forever important for girls now and in the future, her writing is some of the most relatable and hard hitting making the YA fiction we need.

Our Stop by Laura Jane Williams

Nadia catches the London tube train on which she notices handsome model like Daniel.

Daniel is in love, he thinks, with Nadia. Having a hard time after losing his dad he puts an advert in the paper asking the cute girl from the train for a drink.

Emma and Gaby, her best friends encourage Nadia assuming it's got to be her, she matches the description perfectly she also has her friend Naomi whom also encourage her to write back.

After some back and forth across the Missed Connection page, the pair arrange to meet up never giving names or numbers just agreeing times and places only of course things don't go to plan!

After a revelation about her best friends, Nadia comes to terms with her feelings about Eddie a guy she meets while Daniel has to stand up Nadia as his mum breaks down about the loss of her husband.

After chance near meetings throughout the novel its at a Romeo and Juliet event they finally feel a spark...

The ending is so romantic and lovely, a dream for a couple to meet just imagine!

This book is such a step out there a chance meeting at love on a train sounds so random but it actually happened for my auntie and uncle when they were sixteen which made me want to pick this book up after we just lost said auntie. I think she'd love this book like I did, the relationship that develops after so many near misses makes them even stronger in my opinion as it's like they were being pushed together from the world it was so funny that way. I liked the random LGBTQ relationship that develops though I figured it pretty quickly when the story progresses. I really did love the book, it captured my heart and you wouldn't regret picking this one up.

All That She Can See by Carrie Hope Fletcher

Cherry sees the worst in people, their Meddlums as she and her friend dubbed them years ago thanks to a childhood friend whom also saw them too, Peter.

Now settling in Plymouth on the latest bakery stop she has to make she finds new friends and customers to fulfil her happiness and whilst she works in comfort, dressed in pyjamas and queen of each little bakery she sets up stocked with her magically ordinary treats, she never expects to find Chase whom sees the best in everyone around him and a failed business man at first is very angry and cynical and embodies the badness she tries to keep away from people.

But as the two very locked in a business world, they discover their kind and get shocked as they find out a magical gifted guild has been watching over them and all they have been doing.

I love Carrie and her first two books were great, this one just made her work so far better. I loved the magical element to the bakery and how Cherry could help make people feel better with a cake and safe space to be as it's quite comforting and realistic. It was a well plotted and intriguing book I really loved.

The Midnight Sun by Trish Cook

Suffering from a severe illness called XP, Katie is refined to her and her dad's house all day while the sun is up or she could get severely ill with cancer of the skin and die, just from exposure.

But when the sun's down she comes out of their house and plays her guitar on the local train platform, where she finally meets Charlie, the guy she sees pass by her house every day, object of her lust and affection's.

So when the pair start meeting up at night, with the help of her friend Morgan setting it up, she starts to experience life like other teenagers do.

It was a really beautiful story about a girl who just wants to live her life they way teens passing her by literally can. She comes into her own discovering what lies outside her house and we can see how much it changes her life as she finds love and friendship and the wonders of the world around her suddenly make themselves more known to her.

Hope by Rhian Ivory

Hope is a talented singer facing a tough time, rejected from her drama school of dreams that she and her dad imagined her going to.

Now her dad is gone and Hope feels sad and alone she can't face her GCSEs and rejects her friends despite her discovering her violent mood swings are more than just PMS after talking with a lady she works with at the hospital she help out singing at she discovers she had PMDD, something very much unknown.

She also has to recover her voice after messing up her audition and decide on her new future plans while she also navigate a the possibility of a chance at love with the guy whom saved her life as she was onboard a boat...

It was a touching novel and very much emotional as we see a young girl cope with death, new dreams, love possibly and PMDD which I had never heard of but seems very much like more information should be made known to girls about it.

Girl At Sea by Lucy Courtenay

Precious's parents got divorced or are getting divorced after pictures emerged of her dad with other women.


Harry's dad drowned at sea and his mum had a breakdown over it.

Nathan wants to be an artist but his dad doesn't approve and yet he's a drug dealer.

After their GCSE'S are over, Precious and Lotta are off on holiday with their mum's to the Algarve only Lotta wants Olivia to join them when Precious can't stand her and finds her just wanting drama and gossip.

Harry is interailling with new friend Sasha whilst he wants to avoid the sea then ends up alone travelling by it anyway.

Harry and Precious first meet at a hot dog stand when she leaves her change, they witness the bomb go off on the boat, her father's boat and later when she can't catch her flight home and has an uneasy feeling she's being watched, she tries to leave via a cab once again offering too much money, Harry strides in to help. She then follows him as he talks of loneliness and catches the train with him.

Nathan is sent after her as the hunt for her goes national, her face on billboards everywhere whilst running with Harry away from the guys following them as her father's business is in trouble...

This book was told from a three way split perspective once from each main characters point of view. They all have father issues and talk about them whilst the boys also have a jealousy and territory issue over Precious and wanting to help her. The book did have some good points but I did find it dragging in other's, the action was good but more to do with the parent's business deals would be possibly made things clearer. The characters voices were believable and I liked how headstrong Precious is.
